Buy Local Produce At Highfield Farm
On the farm we have an egg vending machine, it is reloaded every day fresh eggs and honey. Come down to the farm and find local and fresh products. We accept both cash and card payments so why not come along and see what we have on offer.
How To Use The Vending Machine
1
Select Your Product
Choose the product you would like and enter the number into the pin pad that corresponds with the item in the vending machine.

Confirm Your Order
Confirm the product and price by clicking 'accept' followed by 'finished shopping'.

Payment
To pay with card press start on the card machine and then present card or place the cash in accordingly.
4
Retrieve Your Produce
The light in your chosen product slot will then dim, unlock and you will be able to retrieve your produce.
What Will You Find In The Vending Machine?
Eggs
The vending machine is reloaded with fresh eggs from our own chickens on the farm. Depending on the time of year we do also have pullet eggs, which are the first eggs that young chickens lay before maturity. They are slightly smaller, but have the same great taste.
Cakes
Every weekend a local young baker, thisblondiebakes, also treats us all with some of her delicious cakes/cookies. These rotate every weekend, so please head down to see what she has available for us.
Honey
There is honey offered year round, which is made by our own bees on the farm. Their hives are located just behind the grain store and also dotted in other locations across the farm.
Chicken Food
To get a real sense of farm life, we also have some treats for chickens available, in the form of a cup of wheat infused with a dash of aniseed. You’ll notice the girls come charging over the second they see you with that cup in hand.

Both the coffee and egg vending machine can be found in a Wood Clad Shed on your left as you turn into the farm off of Highfield Lane. There is parking in the yard just before the double wooden gates.

For those avid walkers and local workers needing that quick coffee hit around Tyttenhanger & St Albans, we also have a coffee machine which produces, if I do say so myself, the best coffee and hot chocolate around. Don’t believe me? You’ll have to head down and try one!
The coffee is sourced from a local supplier ‘Tiki Tonga Coffee Roasters’, some of you may even recognise the coffee from Sarcens rugby club.

FAQ's
Occasionally the door doesn't open after payment, if you re-enter the locker number code then this will solve the problem.
The eggs in the machine are never more than 3 days old
Pullet eggs are the very first eggs that we get from our young hens as they are just coming into their laying cycle at around 18 weeks of age. You'll notice that they are smaller than the eggs you are used to seeing in the supermarket - but they are so delicious.
We are lucky enough to have 12 hives dotted around the farm, feeding on all the beautiful flowers on the farm and in your garden.
There are 60 of our older hens just next door to the vending machine shed and then the bulk of our flock is out the back of the farm, roaming freely in a 10 acre paddock. The only exception to this is when we are required to keep them inside due to bird flu.

Yes, we have a flock of 100 Suffolk cross ewes, which could be in the fields on the other side of the road. We also a mixture of different crops; Wheat, Barley, Oats and Oil Seed Rape. We also work with a local Anaerobic Digester Plant providing them with maize for them to then create renewable energy.
Our Suppliers
Tiki Tonga CoffeeA local coffee supplier that provides the coffee at the farm. The brand was created by the current Captain of Saracens Rugby and a speciality coffee expert who set about sourcing the finest coffee worldwide and creating a unique blend.
This Blondie BakesA local baker called Anna who bakes cakes for the vending machine. You may have sampled her cakes at West End Barn.
